Experience the untamed beauty of Yala Block 5 (Veheragala National Park) and the neighboring Lunugamvehera National Park on an immersive full-day safari led by an experienced driver guide. These lesser-visited parks offer a more peaceful and authentic wildlife experience compared to the busier sections of Yala, allowing you to explore Sri Lanka’s wilderness with fewer crowds and more uninterrupted moments in nature.
This 12-hour adventure begins at 6 AM and concludes around 6 PM. The morning safari takes place in Yala Block 5, where you will search for wildlife such as Leopards, Spotted Deer, Jackals, Crocodiles, Elephants, and a wide variety of bird species. A picnic breakfast will be served during the morning drive, giving you the opportunity to enjoy your meal surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, you will take a scenic break by the river, where a freshly prepared Rice & Curry lunch will be served. During this relaxed midday pause, you can also enjoy short guided nature walks to observe butterflies, birds, and other small wildlife around the area.
In the afternoon, the safari continues as you explore both Yala Block 5 and the nearby Lunugamvehera National Park. Lunugamvehera is known for its beautiful reservoir landscapes and healthy populations of Asian Elephants, Water Buffalo, Crocodiles, and numerous bird species, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography in a tranquil setting.
Special Note: This safari focuses on Yala Block 5 (Veheragala National Park) and Lunugamvehera National Park, two connected yet less crowded wildlife areas bordering the main Yala National Park. While Leopard sightings are possible, they are less frequent than in the main Yala block. However, the peaceful environment, diverse ecosystems, and chance to explore two unique parks in one day make this safari a truly rewarding experience for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
